Buying an expensive primary residence is the worst investment one can make. It's a huge money pit that only idiots who don't understand investments (ie doctors, lawyers) put their money towards. I always LOL when doctors/lawyers making like $300k a yr run out and buy $1mm+ homes...like what a fucking moron.
The better decision is to buy the least expensive home possible and put the rest of your cash in the market. However, if you have no interest in the stock market, at least use whatever money left over to buy a rental property that you can receive a nice cash flow from.
