They were an overtime loss at Wisconsin away from a 10-win season and BIG Ten championship game appearance last year with TOMMY ARMSTRONG trying to run a pro-style offense and Mark Banker as a DC. Scott Frost would KILL IT at Nebraska.

I am getting HARD AS A ROCK thinking about HC Scott Frost's Nebraska offense.

"The one thing I wish we could do at Oregon is be a little more physical. I don’t think that’s a secret. I think everybody on our staff wishes we could be a little more physical on offense. That’s what Nebraska’s calling card was. If we could play fast and physical, I don’t think there’s anybody in the country who could stop us.”

He took an 0-12 team and turned them into a 6-7 team in one year. Took Houston to the wire, lost to Maryland in overtime. The only game they got wrecked was the Michigan game - which was his second game as a head coach and in Ann Arbor. They still ran for over 300 yards on them.

"It's hard to say when the score is what it is, but we came in here and outhit those guys today," Frost said. "Standing on the sideline, there was no doubt who was hitting harder. Our guys came in hungry and wanting to do that. It's rare you can come into Michigan and rush for 300 yards on them. They had to run a fly sweep in the fourth quarter to get to 100.

Pelini hit his ceiling. He had seven years. He was going to go 9-4, get blown out 1-2 times in embarrassing fashion and also embarrass the University/Program/State with his behavior. He sucked as a recruiter, hired unqualified friends as assistants, and was just a dick in general. How many coaches not named Saban/Meyer can get away with telling the entire fan base to fuck off and die?

Riley won 9 games last year. The biggest issue with him is he has been running stale, old-fashioned offensive and defensive systems and has a history of under performance in games against lesser opponents. Part of this under performance is system based. It is hard to make a pro-style system work in college without consistently having elite WRs, a stud LT and QB. There will always be times where his teams can't produce offensively because of the mismatch between his desired system and what talent he can get.

He made a switch defensively, but his offensive system will never work long term at Nebraska. Something like Frost's system would work wonders there and Nebraska could recruit the talent needed to make it work.

nice, i usually go to my dad's house or he comes to my place and we watch the game together.

growing up, my dad contributed money to an organization called "Northern Californians for Nebraskans" which bought time on a norcal AM station to broadcast the games. We'd drive about 45 min to get in range of the station, and listen to the game in a Wendy's parking lot in his truck.

Why can't Frost win games? Nebraska's five-year recruiting average is 22nd in the country and the next closest division rival is Wisconsin at 39. They can out recruit everyone in their division and have superior talent almost every year. There is no excuse for not going 6-1 or 7-0 in the West every year.

Nebraska's biggest issue is that they are a Top-25 program, with Top-10 expectations. Need to have coaches with systems that will enable them to win the division games they should and over perform by occasionally knocking off a Michigan or Ohio State. A better version of what Wisconsin is now or what Michigan State was a few years ago.

Yeah, it is not that hard. Tons of coaches could win 9 games at Nebraska. It is insane they picked a guy who never coached in the Midwest and wanted to convert a run-first spread team with a roster to match into a pro-style system. I can think of a bunch of coaches they could have hired that could have killed it day one with the talent they had on offense.

looking back, the only "logic" i can see to it is that maybe Eichorst thought Riley could use the talent already there to knock out a couple respectable seasons, enabling Eichorst to cop the Wisky AD job before shit with Riley hit the fan

He recruited absolute DOGSHIT QBs, we had 2 years in a row of having to get graduate tranfers from FCS teams to play QB because his recruits werent developing at all. Venon Adams and Dakota Prukop.

So many failed QBs transferred out of Oregon like Morgan Mahalak, Terry Wilson, Jake Rodrigues, Travis Jonsen, and none were ever heard from again. Mahalak transferrd to Towson and couldn't even start. Jonsen is playing WR for Montana state.

They lucked into Herbert who grew up in Eugene and came from a long line of Oregon players
