Tales of berseria is pretty decent but very dated environmwnts/shity dungeon design detract. It's darker and has better character development than other tales games.
Trails of cold steel series gets rave reviews. I felt like the first game dragged a LOT and was too long/boring, but then it really grabs you for the final segment and that momentum carries into the excellent second game.
Persona 5 is the most polished of the series but is overlong and wears out its welcome far before the end. Too easy, plot developments are telegraphed over and over far in advance, did not care about the character cast like I did those in P3 and P4, both of which I loved.
Those are the acclaimed recent JRPGs. Divinity is the POTUS PC RPG. If you want something with a different style/tone, poast what you value in a game. I have 25+ years worth of RPG recommendations. |

Those old might and magic games were fucking insane, especially with no internet hand holding you through them. You had no idea where to go or if you were on the right track, dungeons were crazy with secrets and traps that would just straight up kill ur characters (with no easy way to rez them). Eventually I somehow beat it (more like the game just ended, I had no idea I was at the end). |
