yea the tax writeoff of the higher end Porsche didn't make sense due to limitations on how much you can write off up front. I'm buying it through my business. plus it seemed a little Bravo reality TV for me. pretty fun to drive though

the GX looked like a lesbaru backed into a trailer so fuck that. if I could have found a low mileage 470 I would have bought that immediately.

the XC90's interior was boring as fuck. almost as boring as driving it.

it came down to the X5 v. GLE 350 and I got a better deal on the 350, <10k miles, certified pre owned with a good warranty in place. I've also heard the X5 has SPS reliability problems.

I love the way it looks, interior makes me look like a successful coke dealer which I wanted, and in sport mode it sits very comfortably at 120mph on the highway. nice handling too, feels closer to a sedan instead of a huge ocean liner like a jeep grand cherokee.

this was the deciding factor against it. the cap is $25,000 (and it's actually more like 90% of that because it's based on miles driven with a log you have to produce if you get audited) so getting a $100k SUV isn't efficient

There is a lot more advanced under the hood stuff in a Porsche than say a Volvo or MB. Not saying it justifies the entire premium but there is a reason Porsches pwn much higher capacity engine cars on and off the track

I have seen regular user videos on youtube were people take their SUVs off road and Cayenne handles things that other SUVs cant. all that comes with a price

The Cayenne is a competent offroad SUV, but isn't better than either MB or Jeep (which use the same platform, btw).

On-road, you're better off with a well equipt MB than a bare-bones Porsche with a cheap engine. The cheap engines are just borrowed from the Audi/VW cars (the 3.0L being a great example). They are just cash cows for the company.

of course you would be better off with a fully loaded MB than an entry level Porsche but that doesnt mean Porsches and MB have similar capabilities. You should be comparing similar models not an entry level Porsche with a fully loaded top end MB

If money is not an issue most ppl would buy the Cayenne. period

Is that a rhetorical question? If not, the answer is that it's a status symbol for upper middle class suburbanites (or middle class suburbanites that are willing to take on the debt).

No, that's why you buy the shitty base model. People who don't care about actual performance don't know the difference between a regular M and an AMG, even though one costs over twice what the other costs. Same for base Cayenne vs Turbo S.

it's an old giveaway to the auto industry. ever noticed how these giant SUVs are driven by sugar babies or hotwives on the way to Darnell's house?

if the gross vehicle weight rating is over 6000 lbs, you can write off up to $25,000 of the price the first year, then depreciate the rest over the next 5 years. if you buy brand new, there's an extra $20,000 of bonus depreciation the first year.

if it's under 6000 lbs, you can write off $11,050 new and $3,000 used.

No idea. We won't know until it happens. It'll probably be lighter/more fuel efficient though, if you care about that.

this one is pretty good. I've been getting 21 MPG vs. like 12 in the JGC

the eco mode/brake charging thing is pretty good

If you got the good AMG engine it would be just as bad. Weight is still essentially the same as the JGC and that will stay the same until the redesign.

I don't remember which one this had. it's 310 hp and takes a second to whir up when I floor it, almost like a turbocharger

but like I said, it sits very comfortably at 120mph without misbehaving which feels great

lol I own a V8 JGC, 2014. it's got a shitload of torque and cool extras but I don't like how it feels to drive. personal preference.

What tires do you have on it? Handling changed a ton (in a good way) after I put on Pirellis.

Nah it’s the fact that it handles like a big ass truck. I have never liked driving trucks because they feel like aircraft carriers. The GLE handles much more like a car and I’m more comfortable with it. I was comfortable immediately when I started test driving it.

I wouldn’t think aftermarket tires would help with that, but then again I’m not much of a carmo so I don’t know shit.

Tires have a huge impact. Also, if you had the 18" instead of the 20" wheels that would definitely contribute to your conclusion.

Oh I also forgot to add I test drove an Infiniti QX80. It was the worst piece of shit I’ve ever seen

Turning it was like watching a 600lb woman try to do Pilates.

Every car the Nissan-Renault alliance makes is a massively compromised piece of shit except the Q50 which is "okay" in its segment. Everything else is compromised by shitty body-chassis tuning and really bad CVTs or automatics that are a decade out of date and tuned by retards. The underlying engines are okay but everything around the engines is an afterthought. How they manage to sell millions of car while vastly better manufacturers are stuck with 1/10th the market share is beyond me. The Sentra and the Altima aren't even in the 5 best in class but somehow outsell cars universally rated better in every test. It's nuts. And the Versa is literally a Lada. The fuck do people buy it for?

Keep in mind the qx80 is a Nissan patrol in EU/Middle East. It's a completely different vehicle class than "performance CUVs" which are nothing more than slightly lifted luxury vehicles. The Patrol is a direct competitor of the Land cruiser and is highly respected in the Middle East. I own a 2nd gen Japan built Armada which is the same as the Patrol/qx80 (not to be confused with the 1st gen Armada which was a completely different vehicle built in the US). The Armada/Patrol is massive (over 6000lbs) and is amazing off-road. I've taken it on trails that no sps cayenne would want to go. It's a 180 BOF truck as long as you understand its purpose. I also routinely take it on 8 hour road trips with the kids and it is extremely comfortable. It also tows like a beast.

This just shows how terrible new SUVs are.

Other than the G-Wagen, land cruiser (redesign is ugly however), and Range Rover they are all crap. And the ones I mentioned are insane money. I suppose the 4Runner and Tahoe/Suburban/Yukon/Escalade are not horrible. And don’t get me started on the Bentley and Maserati SUVs. Lol.

I would probably get a 4Runner pro if I needed an SUV even if it is ugly. Damn Lexus styling has infected Toyota. Can’t see spending $100k plus on a new G or RR.

Unfortunately, you need to pony up big bucks if you want a nicely equipped BOF SUV. The exception is the T4R, but it is a lot smaller, interior wise, than the larger domestic and foreign (LC, patrol) BOF SUVs

If you want an all-electric with good performance, Autopilot, and enough space for people/things and good in snow it is a good option.

They're nice cars, broski. And electric cars handle way better than gas. Since the weight is in battery packs, it's distributed more evenly and at a lower height. It's like driving a go cart.
