I'm impressed
I'm impressed with anyone who has enough initiative to get an extended education no matter what the university, and then do something with their life other then to use drugs, drink alcohol, or sleep all day. They are the ones who dare to dream that life can be something different from what they've always known. They are striving to achieve their goals despite the challenges they might face from those who refuse to believe there could ever be a possibility of a better life.
I'm impressed with anyone who gets up and goes to work at a mill or factory each and every day, no matter what the weather or their health might be, or even the futility of a tedious job. They have the drive and determination to make a difference in their own life through shear willpower, and the strength to push on no matter how great the obstacles or how powerful the hindrances laid out by others who can't or won't believe in them or reach out to lend a helping hand.
I'm impressed with the parent who focuses their entire life on raising their children and the taking care to make their house a home. They are ones who have made the conscious decision to give up caring for themselves to care for others each and every day for 18 years, only to end up alone again when the little ones are grown. They cook healthy meals without thought of a thank you, they clean their home while others play, they do laundry while their friends go to the mall, and they fix school lunches while their family sleeps in warm beds. They miss out on hot showers and hot coffee, quiet books and quiet time. They trade special birthdays and holiday gifts for macaroni art and wet kisses. They trade champagne and candlelight for hot chocolate and cookies at the kitchen table. And, just when their children have become equals in conversation and trusted confidants in life, they wake up one morning to face an empty and quiet house once again.
I'm not impressed with those who never work or do anything productive with their lives other than to eat, sleep, drink, and do drugs, all the while waiting around for death to come and take them. They have no real purpose in life, and that's a very sad thing indeed
