"As a young social psychologist, she played by the rules and won big: an influential study, a viral TED talk, a prestigious job at Harvard. Then, suddenly, the rules changed"
btw the rules used to be that it wasn't important if things were true, then the rules changed to that being important

So the boys were howling with jealousy that anyone would listen to a woman and viciously pursued her...nothing new here about boys acting badly.

"Cuddy became famous in her field for a 2010 study about the effects of “power poses.” The study found that subjects who were directed to stand or sit in certain positions — legs astride, or feet up on a desk — reported stronger “feelings of power” after posing than they did before."
Are you fucking kidding me. I don't know why I get surprised anymore but wtf.

I am saddened to hear of Dr. Cuddy's career arc. Humans are basically fancy monkeys and when we turn on someone we can really savage them.
As an academic researcher in a "hard" science, singling out Dr Cuddy to put a skin on your wall seems like a very small-minded thing to do. I didn't focus on the data behind her TED talk but on the message. Most Harvard faculty are filled with self-doubt and, as a man, I am no exception. The TED talk was inspirational and I'm not ashamed to say moved me to tears.
To me, whether or not you believe the power pose data is irrelevant. People should be more careful when casting the first stone...

i could have told you all this years ago when i was calling everything flame.
to my doubters, suck a big fat dick
its all flame now. listen, you let women in to the academy, you are just asking for flame to run rampant. women have no sense of solidity, of honor, of real achievement, they just strut around, flame away, and look to point blame when things to catastrophically wrong. this is the world libs want for us.

im fucking disgusted having read this. i dont think i will sleep well tonight. some fucking bitch makes a shitty fake ass science study and makes a career out of it peddling some fake wisdom to the masses, she gets exposed by a male obsessed with statistics, and she gets made the victim by the nyt, its all about her feelings and how she was bullied. oh, and she will now write a book about her bullying and about bullying in general and turn that shit into her new career, and its written like its some kind of great ending to a tragic story by the nyt.
this is happening everywhere all the time in all the fields where women want to push towards being leaders. im with HER, btw. YASS!! SHESBOSSY...
wtf IS THIS SHIT... feminism will rot this society.

The field, clearly, was not moving forward as one. “In the beginning, I thought it was all ridiculous,” says Finkel, who told me it took him a few years before he appreciated the importance of what became known as the replication movement. “It was like we had been having a big party — what big, new, fun, cool stuff can we discover? And we forgot to double-check ourselves. And then the reformers were annoyed, because they felt like they had to come in after the fact and clean up after us. And it was true.”
This pretty much sums up our entire culture
