Our apt has 3 of these types of doors that allow it to escape. I actually placed a baited mouse trap in front of one and watched it go right by it. Moved the trap to directly in the path along the wall where the mouse would frequently run (so the mouse pretty much had to step on the trap if it wanted to stay in it's usual path).
