Supreme Leader Snoke and Kylo Ren spend much of the film worrying about her "unlocking her powers" indicating that they were at some point repressed. I actually have a theory about this: even though he was working for the darkside, he had actually been using light-side powers. When he crossed the line by killing Han, his powers were diminished. He has to relearn on the dark side now. |
