Politifact marking literally true statements as "mostly false"

An op-ed in an Oklahoma paper said: "State government spending is at an all-time high. The state is on track to spend more in this fiscal year — more than $17.9 billion — than at any time in state history." Each one of those sentences is literally true, but Politifact rates it MOSTLY FALSE because, if you use CPI and revert to 2009 dollars, they spent more in 2010 and 2011 on an inflation-adjusted scale. But if you use PPI, last year was the highest. I wouldn't have a problem with Politifact saying "this statement is true as stated, but you should take it with a grain of salt because inflation matters." That's fair enough. But rating it MOSTLY FALSE is extremely dishonest. The statement in the op-ed was actually accurate, and Politifact is basically saying "we don't think they should have said x, we think they should have said y instead, and if they had said y it would've been false." And that's setting aside the breezy assumption that CPI is objective and perfect, while PPI can just be safely ignored. |

This is true, but *most* gyms in the black part of town do have air conditioning, and *most* gyms without air conditioning are actually in the white part of town. Like the one in OP, it's technically true, but this one is more misleading yet gets a better rating.
