She has a 167 LSAT.
No specific plan for post law school.

The public sector lawyers fare better, but your wife is already in fed gov. It's not more glamorous being a lawyer in fed gov than a non-lawyer.

At a time when she should be focusing on motherhood, she will be surrounding herself with, and becoming vulnerable to, depression, anxiety, alcohol abuse, drug abuse, sleeplessness, and physical illnesses.
If she goes to a high-end big firm, then she has 5 to 8 years as an economic generator for ruthless people before she is forced to take a job as an economically exploited cost center in a faceless large corporation. Her life will be the same as GS-13 but she will make twice as much money as an in-house counsel and be laid off once every four years.
If she goes to a lower and big firm, the cycle starts after 4 years. This doesn't change much for secondary markets, which have smaller profits to feed but are under much greater economic pressure in the compressed middle market. Everyone can bill associates out lower. It's a race to the bottom.
Any starting position outside of the big firms is uneconomic given her a substantial opportunity cost. Oh and she will still end up a barren drunk. |
