this is also known as the "american" vote.
always has been.
these are the people who don't have any other "ethnic" identity because they literally carved out America from the wild land and the human bodies of her enemies alike:

The Scotch-Irish were generally ardent supporters of American independence from Britain in the 1770s. In Pennsylvania, Virginia, and most of the Carolinas, support for the revolution was "practically unanimous".[46] One Hessian officer said, "Call this war by whatever name you may, only call it not an American rebellion; it is nothing more or less than a Scotch Irish Presbyterian rebellion."[46] A British major general testified to the House of Commons that "half the rebel Continental Army were from Ireland".[55] Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, with its large Scotch-Irish population, was to make the first declaration for independence from Britain in the Mecklenburg Declaration of 1775.[disputed ]
The Scotch-Irish "Overmountain Men" of Virginia and North Carolina formed a militia which won the Battle of Kings Mountain in 1780, resulting in the British abandonment of a southern campaign, and for some historians "marked the turning point of the American Revolution".
Did you think aspie 5'6 WASP lawcucks like John Adams won the war?
No less a figure than George Washington once said "If defeated everywhere else I will make my last stand for liberty among the Scots-Irish of my native Virginia".
The Scots-Irish provided 25 Generals and about a third of the revolutionary army. The Pennsylvania Line was made up entirely of Ulster-Scots emigrants and their sons. The Battle of Kings Mountain was a Scots-Irish battle where a militia of mainly Scots-Irish Presbyterians defeated an English army twice its size.
President Theodore Roosevelt said of the Scots-Irish "in the Revolutionary war, the fiercest and most ardent Americans of all were the Presbyterian Irish settlers and their descendants"
The Declaration of Independence was printed by an Ulster-Scot, John Dunlop, read in public by a first generation Scots-Irish American Colonel John Nixon and the first signature came from another Scots-Irish Presbyterian, John Hancock.
"One of the highest concentrations of Scots-Irish were in the Carolinas and many, after fulfilling indentured service contracts, had been forced to migrate over the Southern Appalachians for new land. In 1772, it was Scots-Irish settlers who formed the first independent government in America at Watauga in what would become the state of Tennessee. They continued to settle in the Appalachian valleys beyond colonial rule and, although their loyalty was questioned by their adoptive country, the settlers proved themselves vital in the American Revolution’s victories at Cowpens and Kings Mountain. In addition, they numbered many in the Regular Colonial Army. When the war was going badly for the American colonies, then-General George Washington expressed uncompromising confidence in the Scots-Irish ranks of the American militias.
"If defeated everywhere else," said Washington, "I will make my stand for liberty among the Scots-Irish of my native Virginia."
In fact, following the Revolution, a British Major-General testified before a committee at the British House of Commons that "half the Continental Army were from Ireland – Scots-Irish."

Shit gets deep man.
We have the papers for g-g-g-g-g-g-g-great-grandfather's Revolutionary War pension. He went from Virginia to Georgia; one of his sons eventually settled in Kentucky, where my line has been for over 200 years. We have a cemetery in Kentucky where it's only men and women of our surname, with hundreds of graves (you know--I've shown it to you). Practically every single white person in Eastern and central Kentucky and West Virginia has roots like that; that's true of, AFAIK, nowhere else in the country.
So while we lift up German overmen like Trump on our broad prole backs (j/k nigga is a Scot) to lead the nation, I don't think anyone should ever forget whose nation is being led.

"I can remember an old hewed log building near (name's). It was later used for a barn. I have been told that was the house where my great grandmother was born.
. . .
Grandma was a good marksman with a 32-30 lever action Winchester rifle. She could sit on the porch and kill a hawk on the rock cliff across from the old home place.
She told me that when she came to Coldwater Creek that all the bottom land was standing in virgin timber. Wild animals were plentiful. Deer, bear, and panthers were everywhere. The panther was better known as a leopard and was very dangerous.
Grandma told me about killing a buck deer with a battling stick. She was doing clothes and some dogs ran the deer into a hole in the water. Grandma waded in and stuck the deer and drug it from the water. She dressed it for meat.
She told me about her mother holding a bear by the paw until it worried itself to death. The bear was under the floor, reaching up through a knot hole for some bread crumbs."

little-known fact: kentucky, and specifically where my family is from, is the site of one of the worst environmental disasters of all time. a mining company spilled a coal slurry, in an amount 12x the size of the exxon valdez spill, which has destroyed the aquatic life and drinking water there for over 2 decades now. their fine? $5600.
better-known fact: no one cares what happens to appalachia.
