There are a ton of engineers retiring and it is actually a good time to enter the profession. There will be a ton of work in the near future. Job market for civil engineers is pretty good now, especially those with in demand skills.

From like 2000-2012 the word on the street was that the tech bubble had popped.

Nowadays with turds and AA outsourcing and boomers and no growth and whatever, for a white male to have a shot of a job, there KIND OF NEEDS to be a bubble so CS seems credited.

Anyway, EE gets more respect from me for some reason than CS, not sure why, I'm a Loser who majored in liberal arts. I believe they are forced to learned maths as well as programming as well as shit about circuit boards.

Engineering is still credited if you want to go to work for some corporation and are over 6` and desire to be fasttracked into Management. IRL, nobody hires "business admin" bros for ANYTHING, EVER except, like, managing a verizon store, so the only competition for those $500k middle management/VP of Sales jobs would be other engineers over 6`.

18 y/o and thought CS was not that interesting. Did extremely well in calc and physics and just ok in CS AP tests.

I figured as long as you were smart and got A's in your upper div courses I'd be a lock for some awesome job. I also double majored with Physics thinking this would make me extremely competitive. LJL I was so misguided and out of touch

Really did not have anyone in my family or a mentor to explain to me what was necessary...

I wish someone had really emphasized the necessity of doing co-ops to me, and talked me out of double majoring, and been able to give me more of an inside scoop

My parents were against me doing engineering, kept saying "why not be a doctor, lawyer or do finance"

No one in my family is an engineer

because they are prole goys who like "hands on" stuff rather than 'abstractions' (seriously).

also because they are from the Midwest and grew up in neighborhoods with manufacturing plants. Their parents, relatives, and friends' parents worked in these manufacturing plants.

After my first programming job in college I decided I didn't want to be a programmer because I don't like sitting and a desk all day, and I don't like being around NERDS. Now i am an engineer and I am surrounded by TRASHY PROLES.

A lot of non CS engineers go into IT or programming exactly for that reason. Software, IT, programming, etc is one of the fields that all organizations need.
