I knew there would be public outrage and waves of high profile accusations as soon as the #metoo bullshit started flying around social media. This gave vapid, self-involved women a way to tie themselves to the nascent 'movement' which, as any lucid person can see, is already far more about demonizing men and gender norms than it is exposing actual perpetrators of sexual assault. Fortunately it has already started to spiral into self-parody and the crazies will keep laying in with false and exaggerated accusations like the woman who just accused Al Franken.
The upside is that they won't be able to repeat this wave of outrage many times, and each new iteration will be increasingly attenuated. It's the shitlib Crusades. The more ominous thing I'm seeing is that millennials evidently have no sense pf pushback or introspection in these moments. If it's a fucking social media campaign, it's legitimate in their eyes and they largely roll over for whatever social agenda is being pushed. I have observed very little discussion of whether this needs to be a narrow examination of fucked up men who prey on people or this hilariously broad indictment of male-dominated culture. The good shitlibs will say it can and SHOULD be both but that's ridiculous. We live in the most PC watchdog culture of male behavior this country has ever maintained. Only a few hyper shitlib European nations approach our level of obsession with policing sexism and male behavior with women. Even so, the young folks don't seem interested in questioning the wisdom of aggressively and publicly prosecuting decades-old bad behavior by a small group of men as some kind of crude proxy for all the terrible shit we have apparently done for all of human history. |

The reality is that the US is far safer for women than it has ever been. Yet there is a moral panic over the supposed predations of men. Weinstein et al.'s bad behavior, and it is bad, is a predictable consequence of the liberal and feminist program of loosening sexual mores, mixing the sexes in every setting, and weakening traditional institutions. Moreover, there is just as much opportunistic behavior by women as there is predatorial behavior by men - all the more because the former cannot be aired in public given the climate of opinion, while the latter is such a popular topic accurate accounts are hard to tell from false positives.
