I disagree that it's a gimmicky record. Single-game records can be gimmicky, as can stuff like "two no-hitters in a row," but breaking the hit streak record covers more than a third of a full MLB season.

to me, the calendar year golden slam is the pinnacle of tennis achievement because it represents brutal dominance for an entire year, INCLUDING a denser tournament schedule than normal because the Olympics falls between W and USO

the fact that serena couldn't win even just the slams in a single year ever, despite being utterly dominant, shows how hard it is to win just the CYGS, let alone ALSO win O gold

steffi only accomplished the calendar year golden because her biggest competitor got knifepwned, had monica seles been healthy and not attacked it'd be an achievement that no one in the sport ever achieved
