Say I live in a state that has no duty to retreat as an element of its self defense statutes.

A subcontractor mistakenly thinks he has a repair job at my house first thing in the morning but he actually has the wrong address. He's confused at first, but say he finds a spare key or whatever, manages to unlock my front door, and comes inside. My house alarm immediately goes off and since no one should be in the house at time I go to see what's wrong. I see this strange guy in my house who shouldn't be there and I shoot him out of self defense.

What weaknesses would I have in my defense strategy?

You never reasonably apprehended death or grievous bodily injury.

OK I get that argument but why (from what I know at the time) would an absolute stranger be breaking into my home early in the morning? That in and of itself doesn't make "grevious bodily injury" or "death" reasonable?
