A social network helps us validate behavior and stay sane. In a social network, one may make an off-beat joke and the network will react negatively and one will suddenly think, 'well maybe I shouldn't say or think those things'. Lots of socialization with good, normal people, keeps you sane and grounded in a network and reality .
Without a social network or social interaction, one lets one's worst habits take over and follow the path of least resistance. There's no one to validate behavior. Suddenly you're sitting in your boxers, jerking off 5x a day, and playing videos all Saturday. You end up thinking, doing, and saying weird insane shit, and at that point social isolation and insanity can be self-enforcing.
