i'd give him resources to do constructive shit but i wouldn't let him believe that he's set for life already just b/c of family $. the $ isn't his automatically it's conditional on him wanting to create a life for himself. |

my kid would get to live comfortably during childhood b/c my family would get to live a comfortable life. but he wouldn't get to live rich / be guaranteed a life of wealth just because.
if he wants to do something productive and his ideas/ambitions are legitimate then i'd happily support him in that and other areas of life if needed. just needs to show a credible will to build his own life. he wouldn't get to fly around the world jobless on my dime. |

if i was poor i'd be extremely reluctant to pay for my kid's ug if he wanted a philosophy BA (outside of HYP) even if i thought he was talented. but if he really loved that shit and was interested in pursuing a career as a professor or HS teacher even if he ended up teaching at a shit school, i'd be willing to support that.
my wealth in that case wouldn't just be gifting him a life of comfort, it would be allowing him to take a risk to pursue a vocation which he might not otherwise be able to pursue while providing downside protection
again it's just conditional on him showing a credible interest in creating a life for himself. if he does then i'd support him in those efforts. if he just wants to live an easy life on my dime then no $ for that. |
