That supports his position that they will drop in the short term and then go up if the cuts arent renewed in 10 years?

so we shouldn't assess what a bill would actually do, but rather make assumptions about what a hypothetical future congress might do. got it.

q for u: does it get uncomfortable wearing a plug all day every day, or is your sphincter just so ruined at this point that you don't really notice it anymore?

The point is that it's disingenuous to ignore what it's doing before 2026 and imply what's happening in 2026 (WHICH IS JUST GOING BACK TO WHAT WE ARE TODAY) is what's happening in the bill

1) Ignore that the Senate made the middle-class tax cuts expire.

2) Insist on judging the bill on partial implementation, before it expires.

3) Say, "Well, you know, things may change later."

3) Presto: Tax cut!

I'm pretty knowledgeable on taxes and and their actual effects. Not on Senate rules, no. I udnerstand what Byrd Rule is but I'm not sure the details of what is acceptable.

so we just can't talk about the fact the corporate cut doesn't expire but the individual cut does. you really seem like a well-informed expert! thanks for elucidating!

It's worse than just going back to what they were. The cut in rates expire but the other "revenue-raising" portions of the bill remain. The corporate rate remains at the lower percentage beyond 2027.

It’s not just going back to the status quo - they are keeping chained cpi, which puts people into higher tax brackets then they would be under the current CPI measure.
