i was thinking of this thread, and last night i asked pddj if she can advise her grandma to make sure she doesnt send us a CHRISTMAS card again this year.

she gives me a stare of death.

then she starts yelling at me that at least her family cares about her and sends her card, and nobody sends me cards for anything.

i said "i'd rather have no card than have a card for a holiday where jews have historically been massacred for thousands of years."

she said, "fine, i'll make sure i hide anything from you that my family ever sends me for the rest of our lives because we're stuck together in misery and you're going to judge who i am and hate a part of me."

then she started saying how her grandma is old and maybe she didnt know what the card said or wasnt able to buy a different card and had this one laying around.

i said she could have had your mom buy a chanukah card for you, just like she has her mom do a million other errands for her. it's totally unacceptable and insulting and inappropriate.

then she started crying and said she's never felt ashamed of who she is until she met me, and this is how it's going to be for the rest of our lives.

then i went to bed.
