I barely stumped Charles XII on the last POTUS election trivia.

1. Last Republican to win Ohio but lose Florida?

2. Last election in which a Republican won Tompkins County, NY (home to Ithaca and Cornell)?

3. Last election in which a candidate(s) won 80%+ of the vote in a state(s) and name the state(s). There may be just one or more than one.

4. In the 1936 election, name the 3 states where FDR did not get 50%+ of the vote.

1. Gerald Ford?

2. 1984?

3. FDR in 1944, South Carolina and Mississippi?

4. Vermont, Maine, and Kansas?

Definitely boned on some of these, I think.

1. Dewey, 1948? Ford lost both, while Nixon + Eisenhower won both both times. Pretty sure Dewey didn't win any of the South, though, and he may have won Ohio though I can't remember exactly.

2. No way you're asking this if it's 1984 or 1972. I'll guess 1980, which had a lot of weird results because Anderson picked up a lot of elite libs.

3. 1964. The crazy thing is, these might be multiple GOLDWATER states. I'll guess Mississippi and Alabama. Don't think Johnson cleared 80% anywhere but I could be wrong.

4. Vermont and Maine are obvious, since Landon won. I imagine New Hampshire is the third.

You killed it as usual.

1. Dewey is right, but it was 1944. That year, FDR was weaker in the midwest due to disillusionment with the New Deal and isolationism that was characteristic of the reason, while the South obviously was still rock solid democratic.

2. Yup; it's 1980. Anderson really hurt Carter in NY, MA, RI. In NYC Reagan got 37% of the vote (unthinkable today for a Republican) while Carter just got 55%.

3. 1964 is right. The 2 states were LBJ Rhode Island and Goldwater Mississippi.

4. Correct; Landon won Maine and Vermont outright. FDR won NH but at barely below 50%.
