There were obviously yuge struggles (Social Wars, & part of why Caesar was assassinated was bc he let in all these Gauls into the senate) but for the most part they accepted ppl that WANTED TO BE ROMAN

I mean it lasted for hundreds of years - for a polity of that size to be that strong for over 2 centuries, and still be strong enough to hold the mediterranean for 2 more centuries, and then STILL hold on to half of it for hundreds more years, I don't think it had to do anything w/ prolefication.
