I studied Ancient Greek at my private hs. Wasn't mandated and I've never heard of a hs where it is.

Took Latin through Virgil/Catullus/Horace in HS and taught myself Ancient Greek and some very limited Semitic languages

Not flame

Struggled hugely through Latin but I enjoyed the literature and the wisdom in the Classics - then I grabbed a book on Ancient Greek and once you get past the alphabet it is really not that difficult at all if you know Latin.

The Semitic languages were later on and a result of what I studied in college and only did them on a very very limited basis.

I just enjoyed the languages man - I think its cool to be able to access hidden knowledge. Latin and Greek were also enormously useful for everything from grammar to parables about how to live your life.
