I spend about 26k usd a year in HCMC but I live a pretty luxury lifestyle. A 2bd in probably nicest complex in Saigon, this is 900 a month. I eat out every meal and not at street places usuallu. I drink too much and go to nicer places not shitty Bui vien. I don't even pay attention when I'm drinking get whatever I want. Also date a lot. I have a bike but take Uber cars whenever I go out drinking. I probably blow over 1.1k plus a month drinking and eating and Uber and occasional clothes shopping. You could of course live much more cheaply here but Saigon is a great place to splurge. The same lifestlye in the US would cost me three times as much at least

My overall portfolio is around 40% bonds, 60% stocks plus 20k in a savings account and 2k or so in checking accounts. 300k of my NW is in Vanguard Wellesley (VWIAX) in non-retirement accounts. Should I diversify by moving 100-200k into savings in SE Asia? For instance, in some countries here you can get 6-8% interest but of course you have to convert USD into local currency. Some countries though, like Vietnam, have relatively stable currencies and economies. If I put 200k into a local savings account bearing 7% interest I am making 14k a year guaranteed, almost paying for my entire life with just 20% of my NW.

I could buy a nice luxury 2 bedroom condo in SE Asia for around 125k USD. Rent on the same place would be around $850 a month. Does it make sense to buy (assume no issues with foreigners buying property)?

Am I missing anything? Before anyone mentions it, I don't want to get married. I don't want to have kids. And I don't particularly care about 30 years from now when I officially retire. I want to enjoy life right now and not have to work full time or live in the US.

This was a flight to Vietnam and I was actually surprised there were so many white ppl on the flight. Most white trash go to Thaialnd, Philippines etc.

First observation was a enormous fat American guy who literally could not walk down the aisle properly cause he was so huge. He had the arrogance to ask the cute Vietnamese fligth attendant if he could just sit in the empty economy premium cabin. Thankfully she had self respect and said he had to sit in his assigned seat. Later there were two hideous looking white Canadians in front of me. The girl was so vulgar that when I saw her face I had to turn away, somehow her white BF was able to tolerate this. Anyway, the entire flight they would whine abt shit, they want their bag from overhead, they want this drink etc. The self hating flight attendants would obey them and actually thanked them at end when they deplaned. If it was the other way around, an Asian person in the US acting like that? LOL

Final shit was an old white American looking guy who was MAD as fuk that his precious restroom was occupied. When the Asian woman got out he literally said, "Thanks for taking your time". TWTR, bought at around 40. Lost about 10k on it total, sold most of my positions now, just have 2k or so left. Fuking. worst. decision. ever.

And irony is that at one point I think I was up like 5-10k cause the stock went way above 40.

Oh and some of the TWTR position i sold I used to buy NFLX around 90 a share. Then sold in panic before earnings for maybe a 100 buck profit. If I had held on it would have doubled.
