This all gets even harder when you start thinking about a two income household, with both people in high earning professions. |

and, to be honest, those types of very affluent suburbs often still offer a lot of restaurants, shopping, activities, etc. it's not quite as much as the downtown of a major metro, but then again 40 year olds with a few kids aren't really going out 5 nights a week either. |

the best place to grow up is anywhere with character that's not a shithole, whatever it is (suburban, urban, rural). I still have an attachment to where I grew up in a way that nobody who is from Arlington TX or fucking whatever will. There are suburbs like this (mostly places that were small towns and later just became suburbs more by outgrowth of metro areas, rather than sprawl from the 60s-onward), small towns like this, and even portions of cities like this. |
