legit contentious issues -- attempts to choke off discussion are a huge problem in America too obviously, but they are just much more successful in Europe. Immigration is widely talked about in America, but basically completely shut down as a topic in most European countries. Same goes for a lot of topics. also, while muslims are horrible immigrants, i do think that cuts both ways. they are worse to have in the country, but that also makes them easier to identify as a threat and ultimately expel if needed, especially through laws attacking islam and their beliefs and culture.

but i've sort of refined my thinking on liberalism and how it relates to the west, and while i think racial and ethnic demographic changes are bad, i think the biggest issue facing the west is the gender divide. look at the US for example: if we didn't have the 19th amendment today we'd be way, way less liberal, even including racial and ethnic demographic changes.

ultimately i think the way the west defeats liberalism is by women eschewing liberalism, the state, and toxic feminism and instead embracing nuclear families, child-rearing, american culture, and religion. unfortunately, the likelihood of that happening doesn't exactly help me sleep at night.
