I am a girl living in New Delhi. We have a 2 bhk flat, separate rooms and common washroom. For me living with flatmate of opposite sex has it's pros and cons. Let's figure it out.
Pros
I can watch horror movies at 3 a.m.(alone I can't in morning also)
I don't have to worry about lizard in the room. This is his work to make her leave. But he takes bribe for that.
We share all the bills but his work is to do the payment before last day.
Because he is a guy I go out to eat ice cream with him at 11 p.m.also. Going alone at night is not safe in my area.
He taught me some exercises
It's good to talk, laugh, eat together. Sometimes living alone all the time is boring.
We share everything equal whatever we get from outside to eat. We don't divide money if anyone of us buys it alone. So both of us are benefited.
I never bother to open the door or to clean the washroom. This is his duty.
Cons
It's my duty to cook. When I was living alone I sometimes used to skip cooking but now because of him I can't.
He takes lots of time in washroom so in that case I wait outside and request him to come soon.
He talks very loud on phone. This is very irritating.
Most of our friends don't know that we share same flat we don't let them know because they will tease. So whenever they call the other person is not suppose to make any noise so the other holds his/her sneeze, keeps cell in silent mode and wait for the previous to finish.
We watch YouTube while having dinner. When I was alone I used to watch Pakistani drama. Now if I do he calls me aunty or aurat. So I don't watch now.
His duty is to clean the dishes but he ignores. If I ask him to do he says he won't eat, so I clean and cook. But then he eats. So irritating.
He sometimes use my imported perfumes as room freshener. I hate this.
We don't have common friends. So if someone comes to our house the other person is suppose to leave
We don't keep our under garments in washroom because other person may feel awkward.
I pay extra attention to my clothes, pads and bed sheets during periods. Never I did so much when I was alone.
He used all my chandan face pack and still if I do anything he calls me aunty.
He sometimes makes irritating tame table. He wakes up at 5 a.m.and play Hanuman chalisa at speaker. I ask him to use earfone. He lectures that I should not stop him during prayer.
Whenever I cry after watching emotional movie he laughs. So embarrassing.
Even if sometimes I decide not talk to him, or plan to kill him but we compromise. I share flat with him because he is good, genuine and friend. He treats me like a guy, I am scared he will make me behave like a guy. Tonight he is not here. He went to attend a wedding ceremony and rather then enjoying I am writing about him.
