I was deadlifting over 300 and squatting over 225 in the time between the tear and having the tear diagnosed. No way in hell could I have played any sporttt though.
My recovery was very fast in that I walked . . . right off the operating table (although awkwardly and slowly). Unfortunately I never made it back to 100%. I still have some instability. I can run up and down the basketball court, jump (although not really with any explosiveness, probably lost 8-10 inches off my vertical). However, as soon as it changes from doing a premeditated athletic "move" to something reactive, it all breaks down. Just can't do it anymore.
Probably the worst thing to happen to me, in terms of impacting my enjoyment of life.

i have a few friends who are eagles fans, and i've been telling them all along, as much as i love wentz, that he was going to get hurt. he was hurt all the time in college, got hurt right away his rookie preseason, he plays gutsy and is mobile, but he puts himself in high danger situations, and the nfl is injury after injury.
just a week ago i reiterated this to a friend, and he said, "nah, wentz knows how to slide, he's good about it now, i'm not worried..."
