Again, I assumed that this was normal midlife crisis type stuff that would eventually pass. One interesting thing that her other, much more grandmotherly, mentor said to her was that she was worried about her behavior, particularly the amount of poetry she had been writing, and she asked her if she could be having a bipolar episode. |

She's dug around and discovered that her mentor has had very similar falling outs with multiple mentees. Two of her past mentees divorced their husbands during the time they served as her mentee. Looking back on her relationship, she now believes her mentor is a sociopath and set up the entire assault incident in Vegas as the final act in her game. My wife thinks she may have been drugged as her friend was the one pouring/mixing drinks in the hotel room. She also remembers her friend telling her in the limo, "these are my blackmail photos" as she snapped shots of my wife. Also, while at dinner that evening, my wife told her about the "talk" she had with me about her restlessness and lesbian pathology, and her mentee's response was "Nice. Sounds like the beginning of the end."
Anyway, my wife pulled it together over the past couple of days and she sent a professional email to her and shipped all of the docs/files she had back to her mentor.
I pushed my wife yesterday about possible infidelity and she said that while she was occasionally infatuated with her mentor, she never did anything romantic, nor was she ever in love with her. She claims she's never cheated on me and that all of the style and physical upgrades are just about her feeling better about herself and that it felt good to feel sexy after being just a mom for the past 8 years. Things feel like they're settling back to normal.
