Senators: 1 of 100. Not executives

Governors: executives. Only 50.

That's mainly because governors usually have term limits and Senators don't, so they need something else to do afterward.

Depends on the governor or senator. Generically, I think most prestigious of all would be working for a prominent senator, followed by a governor of very large state (CA, NY, maybe a few others) or who is viewed as a top-tier POTUS contender, followed by most senators, followed by the rest of the govs.

Probably Senate becuase it opens doors in big lobbying or appointments with the administration. Compated to state lobbying or state appointments. Also, make fun of DC all you want, but its better than Albany, Sacramento or Tallahassee.

A shitton of money gets spent on lobbyists in small state capitals, where the money goes a lot further. Just a thought.

depends. i'd rather be a senior staffer -- like chief of staff or comms director -- for a huge state governor (like cali or texas). but if we're talking mid or low-level staffer legislative assistant type stuff then definitely senate.

Far more prestigious people in Senate offices than Governor offices. Governor's offices are full of middling hicks and campaign volunteers and shit making $60k in flyover or SPS coastal fourth tier. The bright path of gubernatorial staff is to run for State Rep LOL

whole world and everything to do in it fuckin sucks

Imagine the role is deputy general counsel and consumer protection / unfair trade practices policy advisor for an upper midwestern state (MN, WI, MI). Would you take it?

Working for a Senator. People who work for a Senator in Washington DC enjoy extremely high status in DC. I don't think the people who live in state capitals have an equal appreciation for people who work for the Gov. Especially if it's a state like Massachusetts or Georgia where the capital is a big city and government is not the biggest game in town.

If the only metric is prestige then It’s the senate, easily. There is nothing prestigious about state government. But prestige is a stupid metric.
