One of the toughest things I've done in life (which isn't saying much). Hunger has gone from 'merely' hunger to boredom of not eating + mental/emotional attachment to food.

Will begin hitting the gym next week as well (I did some body weight exercises today and didn't feel all that bad).

10 pounds or so, but I'm guessing the vast majority of those are water weight.

most of the weight you lost on day 1 was water weight but after that you can legit lose 1-1.5lb/day

I did a 2 day stint before. I meant to go longer but said fuck it after two days. This time I kind of told myself now or never, don't be a weak-willed pussy, that sort of thing to keep me going.

But yeah, we'll see how I feel after tomorrow but for now, I think 14 days is very doable. I feel like after 4-5 days or so, it's almost entirely mental. Have you fasted before?

ive been doing fasting for about last two months, started w 2 days twice, then 3 days twice, a few 1-2 days, and 5 days recently.

after day 2 I'm usually rarely hungry, so it's actually easier doing a longer one. the thing is I don't think I'll be doing longer than 5. I do mon-fri, fasting on workdays is easy, but on weekends there's much more time to remember about eating/get bored, I find a lot tougher to keep at it. plus nice to go out fri/sat after a week of going strong. I lost 25lb in that time.

Yeah that sounds like a solid plan. I'm going through my 3L finals right now so a lot of time on my hand. I think that's why I'm so bored & still think about food a lot.

losing weight is a secondary concern (just a byproduct - i sure can drop some pounds but i'm not that 'unfit' really).

doing this as a personal challenge though. so far during 3L years, i've been very unproductive/unwise/undisciplined in all facets of life, e.g. drinking habits, relationships, and gaining some unnecessary pounds. so i said fuck it, enough is enough.

if i can get through this, i believe it'll be worth it from the point of 'mastering' my appetite/impulsive behavior, mind over body, etc.

i see. i can see the value of overcoming a personal challenge like that, but im uncertain whether it would lead to any sort of permanent change, at least for me.

for me, doing intermittent fasting lead me to lifestyle change, which included cutting drinking dramatically as well, and doing shorter 1-5 day fasts seems more manageable long term.

Yeah you make a good point. Prolonged water fasting won't do shit unless i make some permanent changes.

I'm also incorporating intermittent fasting after i'm done with this fast. How do you find it? Any cravings during fast days? I ask because the toughest days were the first few days, so i'm guessing you'll get some cravings during your 'off' days.

16:8 is a good system. only eat during 8 hours of the day. so eat until 10pm, the next day don't eat until 2pm. after doing this a few times your body gets used to it. I drink a black coffee in the morning, and now do t get hungry at all until later in the day. and once every week or every two weeks do a longer fast (2-5) days. that's been working well for me.
