Personally, I think Yamaha is legit for a modern player, but a Steinway or bechstein has intonations and dynamics that are to die for and far far far superior. Even Chris Martin plays an antique bechstein baby grand

Limited repertoire for organ music.

Given that post-1750 keyboard music is largely flame, it makes most sense to INVEST in a harpsichord. There's more than enough for a lifetime's study in Bach's keyboard music alone, with Scarlatti, Vivaldi, Rameau, Gibbon etc. to keep one busy should one wish to dip into lesser music.

The Romantic era was BY FAR the best era and it's almost impossible to make Romantic music sound good on a harpsichord.

CR, these were some of the last pieces I played before I quit music. Chopin Nocturnes are by far my favorite - pretty much all of them are amazing.

I don't like Baroque or Classical era music as much - very technical, but not emotional enough IMO. Nor do I like Contemporary - too dissonant and not melodic. Romantic is the best.

Practicing law - no time, wanting to offself, ljl

I recently started getting back into it. It feels pretty amazing after all these years. I also play another instrument which requires less practice, which I've kept up more with. Piano requires constant practice to keep your fingers nimble and sight playing abilities top notch.

Fwiw, I like uprights more and don't care enough about the brand of piano. Teachers seem to like Steinways. Seems like all the recital halls had Steinway grands too.

Unless you have a big place, I'd probably just get an upright.

If you have a big house and $$ to buy a Steinway grand, then by all means go crazy.

I find that grands are a little "stiffer" to play if that makes any sense.
