is there any TV today on the same level as Sopranos/Wire/BB/Mad Men?

like a show called The Derringer. Its primary plot involves a scientist who's become aware of the existence of carnivorous icebergs in the North Atlantic and a conspiracy to suppress the knowledge of their existence by the Navy which effort is growing increasingly difficult because of mounting losses of ships and personnel as peri-Arctic traffic increases with the receding of the polar ice cap (this is based on real-world events).
There's a subplot involving the scientist's wife depicting her struggles at a large accounting firm--think one level below the Big 4--while running a division of the firm that has a niche practice specializing in transitioning formerly closed corporations from non-GAAP to GAAP accounting. That's her "lure" subplot but the real meat of her story is that while she's working at the firm, she's also simultaneously becoming absorbed in increasingly esoteric, boundary-pushing efforts to develop the next wave of "great art" (think post-post-post modern) with questionable effects on her mental health and ambiguous-to-the-viewer legitimacy--is she an actually talented artist becoming consumed by the passionate pursuit of a higher artistic spiritual truth or merely a borderline schizophrenic experiencing the final cracking of the foundations of her sanity due to the combined pressures of her work at the firm and this obsessive pursuit?
In the background there are their two teenage children, a brother and sister, whose main plot hook right now is to engage in ravening debates about obscure topics in scientific research, e.g., near-light propulsion methods, woolly mammoth cloning. And there's a cute dog.

Sopranos was on a different level, it changed television.
We've seen good shows since then but nothing of the same caliber.
