If the homicidal sky wizard is real, then our top priority should be to find a way to defeat it, before it decides to commit genocide against us again.
So, again, is there a reason the sky wizard murders children? Or should we be finding a way to destroy it before it destroys us? If we cannot possibly know the reason it chooses to murder children, then logically it could choose to murder children again at any time, and preventing that outcome would be, if not the top priority of humanity, at least among the top priorities. We would therefore be morally obligated to find a way to destroy the sky wizard.
If the answer is we must humor the sky wizard because there' is no way to destroy then that is, I suppose, an answer that is plausible at the service level-- but then it means that the lot of humanity is to humor the capricious whims of a serial killer, lest it destroy us in another one of its tantrums. Is that what we are? |
