not precisely true, but your larger point about cars radically increasing in quality and durability over the last 25 years is CR

Square looking cars looked incredibly dated in the 90s and were embarrassing to be seen in. Everyone dumped their 80s shitboxes.

The innards of Japanese 80s cars were very good. (J manufacturers would actually work with their component suppliers ahead of time to make sure everything was copacetic before ordering parts). The problem was the lack of good rustproofing. Lots of perfectly driveable J cars from the 80s got junked for this reason. A tragedy.

TBF I was driving a 1989 Lincoln Continental like a boss well into 2003. It was replaced with a 1999 Buick Lesabre in 2004 which we then replaced with a brand new Infiniti G35 in 2007 which was replaced with a series of Mazda 3s and 6s from 2010-2017 culminating in a Kia Stinger GT in 2018.

How are you not outed? You post the exact details of your job and you have the only Stinger on the road.

I was driving an 1985 Ford Escort through the first half of 1999.

Bought a 92 Jeep Cherokee in the fall.
