never played 5 setters, but my instinct is that losing a 4th set TB when you're up 2-1 has got to be gut wrenching.
50/50 you either win a closely fought match and go into the locker room, or you lose the TB and go into the 5th set with the momentum against you.
in a 3rd set TB when it's 1-1, the winner goes up 2-1 and the loser goes down 1-2. major momentum switch, but there's still a lot of match to play.
in a 3rd set TB if it's 2-0, it's not so much of a big deal if the leader loses.

agreed. this is what happened to Nadal in the 2013 RG semi, and he was up a break in the 4th i believe as well. miraculous that he won that match.
this happens a lot in the women's matches. a chick will win the first, and then be serving for the match at 6-5, only to be broken and then lose a tight tiebreaker. now she's gone from being points away from winning to almost being behind, and certainly behind in momentum.
