In defense of the bullet train, if real estate prices keep rising in the Bay Area and Socal, a bullet train with stops in the Central Valley will make it possible to live near those terminals while commuting in to work in under an hour. I'd gladly pay $300K for a 2000 sq ft home in Bakersfield and commute in to LA every day as opposed to buying 1 bed shack in South Central.
