It is not about need. There are always new and interesting things to learn about history. This is really true in a lot of genres though. Most popular physics books just rehash the same stuff.

I read history and literature because it makes the world more interesting and enhances my inner life and happiness. On the other hand, I am 31 and fear I am delaying putting away childish things. Perhaps should be focusing on creating material comfort for myself/future family.
