1. Don't tilt -- ok this is basically impossible to abide by 100% but still at least take a walk/smoke break after taking a big loss, bad beat or not.

2. Play tight, play aggressive, play in position. Literally all the strategy tips you need to demolish most live games. Probably the best piece of advice if you hold onto it.

3. No drinking/drugs beyond an occasional social cocktail. Intoxicated play is a recipe for disaster

4. NO POT LIMIT OMAHA. EVER. No matter how enticing it looks, However good the game appears. Just completely block that devil game out of your mind.

5. DO NOT FUCKING TILT.

Anything else?

Yup super generic but easy to follow and, when adhered to strictly, absolutely destroys fishies (aka 90% of player pool below 5-T blind).

Absent specific reads, this strategy (as boring as it sounds), flat out prints money.

i find i play my best after 2-3 drinks. i overthink if i'm sober/had less. i also can bluff more convincingly. i'm not going to wear gay hats and sunglasses to the table so i have to minimize facial tells.

2-3, 3-5?

you should poast some hands.

you should also make sure to track your results; being honest with yourself is step #1 to improvement.

so you COMPLETELY FUCKING IGNORED (1) and (5) of your own tips? you wont chase losses if you are fucking levelheaded and not on tilt

go home and stop gambling bcos thats what you are doing now not playing poker. the inability to deal with a losing session/hand is what kills 90% of poker players who could be good otherwise (has ability to read hands, make sound calls/bets/folds)

Part of the learning process is seeing differing rationale for playing tough hands. It’ll help you ask the right questions in tough spots and you’ll eventually notice the best posters there and can try to mimic their thoughts.

I got a lot better at 2/5 live and 6max NL online (long time ago though) after being honest with myself and digging into the strategy threads for a while.

In all honesty though (and you might already know this), all the strategy in the world is unlikely to overcome tilt and too much drug abuse.

All true enough. Online/live strategy is like chess vs. chutes n ladders so you gotta remember what subforum you are on.
