this is from the early childhood era
i must have been 4 or 5 when my parents took some of my toys and gave them to family of Polish people who were recent immigrants. My parents were weird like that.. all their friends in this time seemed to be immigrants of some flavor of another. I also remember greeks who made a cake with coin in it, a pakistani woman. It must have been because my mother was an ESL teacher - those were some of her students or anyways people she met through the school. I recall going over to the Polack's house and seeing my toys, including the prized "MASK" (mobile armored strike command) blue chevy with a tank gun that popped out. They were hanging up on nails on the wall of the other child's bedroom. I thought it was very weird to store toys like that.

the boy adam
there was a boy Adam whose parents didn't allow him to play with 'violent' toys- GI joes, guns and the like. For some reason I got into a scuffle with the kid and pushed or did something that resulted in him getting a fairly bad scrape on his head. I remember the boy's mother standing behind him, sweeping is hair away from his forehead as my mother scolded and shamed me in front of them.
