As my year in school is made up of 15 and 16 year olds, I'm not claiming we represent a large part of society. But I did have a good laugh when in my biology class on Wednesday, we were doing a 5 minute starter activity that separated human traits into categories of genetic, environmental, and both.

When the teacher put sex in the genetic category, a couple of people yelled "triggered", we all had a good chuckle. Many comments were made regarding men wearing dresses, and how it doesn't make them women, how you can't change your sex, that sort of thing. I've only become radfem in the past 6 months or so, and this gave me some hope. Normal everyday kids seem to understand perfectly that transgenderism is nonsense at a basic level. We just don't buy it, and my school is pretty gender neutral and males and females are often friends and in each others' groups, there's no power dynamics. I would usually roll my eyes at "triggered" jokes, but this was an exception. A good laugh with friends over a troubling social phenomenon - it might seem like a small silly thing, but I like to be reminded that the internet concentrates the worst people into a small space. Real life is much different.
