can someone explain the appeal of pickup trucks, especially higher-end ones like the F-150 Raptor?
This is assuming you're not some farmer or blue collar worker who uses it for work -- and i doubt farmers and blue collar doods are getting higher end pickups like the Raptor. If you aren't often hauling large items, why would you want a pickup truck? It handles and performs like shit, has terrible fuel economy, is awkward to park, and costs comparatively more

yes
Buy the Raptor and then put a Gearhead, 5*, Livernoise, or a tune of your choice on it and thank me later. You can get an extra 50-75hp at the wheel just from a tune.

I think they look cool, but would never be able to justify the price. It's not like you'll ever do any real offroading.
Far cheaper to get a "nice" version of a used F150 or Ram 1500 and put a $200 leveling kit, and decent rims an 35's for $4,000 for the same basic look. You would feel a lot less guilty when towing or actually using it for "truck" purposes.
