The miz is probably my favorite wrestler right now because I hate aj styles as a bland babyface (love him as a tweener though). That's a major reason wrestling sucks now--all of the wrestlers just "exist" and aren't booked to make you care if they win or lose. The miz is the one guy I really buy into, suspend disbelief, and actually root for instead of just watch. I marked out massively when he cut that intense promo on reigns and cena for stealing all the "moments" then felt it a bit in the pit of my stomach when he nonetheless went on to eat the pin in the main event as a secondary concern to the reigns-cena rivalry. Marked out massively again when the miztourage fucking destroyed Roman reigns, multiple finishers onto chairs, did the shield pose over him. Last night was one of those rare (these days) moments that I still watch wrestling for. My guy beating the face of the company in front of a white hot crowd. Enjoyed it as much as Ziggler cashing in and styles turning heel on cena.
I read a really good forum or blog post (couldn't find it again) that perfectly analyzed why I love the miz. He's really the one true underdog of the wwf, everything he's done he's busted his ass for and has done it often without all that much support from fans or management. He gets jobbed out all the time yet always bounces back and stays relevant. He showed up as a kid with a dream, not the best wrestler, not the best physique, yet managed to get the girl and main event wrestlemania. |
