but its anime, so they can use some creative license. stopping completely at the bell shows that the fighters are honorable and will fight only within the rules of the game. except for that dirty punk Mashiba! hope ippo creampies his sister |

I can't believe they made a 3 minute round last an entire episode but it was pure 180.
I haven't decided if it's a flaw of the show or not yet, but I feel like ippos opponents are more interesting and get better characterization than ippo himself. Ozuma was definitely the best so far, I hope he shows up again later. |

I was suffering from crippling depression during law school after separating from my now ex wife. I watched all the fucking rocky movies, all the fucking time to try to keep myself from giving up on everything. One day I thought half jokingly that I should do it myself. Eventually it turned into more of an obsession, and I started running wooded trails in grey sweats and got fucking shredded, dropping from like 210 to 170.
Once I was in fairly decent shape, I actually joined a boxing gym and would go there instead of class/studying. There was a crazy old gruff Italian trainer there like something straight out of a movie. Typically he would alternate between yelling at me and just shaking his head like "jfc . . .look at this goofy ass motherfucker." One day a few months in, he walked by and stopped to watch while I was working the heavy bag. When I finished the round I looked at him expecting the usual 50-pushup punishment. Instead he said nothing, nodded approvingly, and walked away.
Even after I stopped training there, I still kept heavy bag work as my post-lifting cardio. That stopped when I tore my acl a few years ago because unstable knees make boxing very awkward and completely take away your power. It can't end like that though. I feel my FIGHTING SPIRIT starting to reawaken. I have a very large, very empty garage that would look nicer with a heavy bag, speedbag, and double end bag installed. . . |
