What is there to "master?" 1911s are the easiest semi-autos to shoot. Glocks are what's hard to master.

disagree, my girlfriend carries a ruger lc9, nice little toy easier to fire, very accurate, magazine is a bit small but you can fend off a single attacker with it

depends on the frame of the person firing it and for what purpose; a 110 lb woman is going to get blown the fuck away by the recoil from a 10 gauge shotgun, also a revolver is going to be harder for a new gun owner to shoot than a magazine fed pistol

I'm also thinking of a situation where you're ambushed on the street or someone breaks into your bedroom and you have maybe a few seconds to react; i'd rather have my s&w 442 in that situation even though my firearm of choice is my m1a, beautiful weapon and easy to fire

agreed, that's why i qualified my statement by saying the carrier of that particular firearm was female, she's got small hands and finds the larger weapons awkward to hold

I own both Glocks and 1911s, and while the Glocks are functionally perfect, they are boring.

What do you already have? I copped a 22/45 lite and went full race gun so it has a 10 oz trigger with a mm pull and reset. with a red dot and a silencer it's the most fun I have shooting by far, you can dump a whole mag into one hole at 25 yards as fast as you can pull the trigger.

Yeah you need a full frame handgun for sure. I'd go .45 since you're in cuckafornia and can't take advantage of high cap magazines. Something like the FNX-45 would be awesome.

SIGs are a good compromise between Glocks and 1911s. You get the practicality of a Glock with the "sexiness" of the 1911

I don't understand how this could happen. 1911 is ridiculous as a CCW imho but as a range-toy? Whatever puts the bigger cartridge downrange with the greatest accuracy and least recoil is best... i.e. 1911. Only thing that can screw that up is if you're having malfunctions.
