For comparison, Miami is 3x as big and is one of the 10 largest MSAs in the U.S.
New Orleans is even smaller (46th largest) and is poor, so it definitely doesn't belong. |

think austin and vegas are both pretty clearly ahead of new orleans and nashville. could also make an argument for kansas city and minneapolis on this list. |

Nashville has two real industries: healthcare (HCA and CHS are both headquartered there and Vandy Hospital is legit) and music. I can't think of any industries in Phoenix. other than the music thing (which isn't really a real "industry" it's just part of the city's culture) nobody would know about the healthcare thing except someone with personal experience with nashville. i can't name phoenix's big industries off the top of my head but nobody outside of nashville can name them for nashville either. |
