The husband of Kimberly Snead, 48, said that when the couple was brought in for questioning by the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, the 19-year-old suspect was being led into the building by deputies, handcuffed and wearing a hospital gown.
“Really, Nik? Really?” Kimberly yelled at Cruz, lunging at him, but her husband James held her back.
Cruz said he was sorry for Wednesday’s shooting, in which 17 were killed and more than a dozen wounded, James said.
“He apologized. He looked lost, absolutely lost,” said James. “And that was the last time we saw him.”
