Yeah, maybe. I'm doing like a "close relationship" thing for my kid. I just love him so much. When I get really firm, like, "Get out of the Car now! Feet on the ground! One Two Three!" he responds. If I'm not sufficiently irritated, he does like a wiggly worm no backbones sort of roll and flop move as a game. Meanwhile it's fucking raining outside and I'm standing by the car door getting rained on.

tbf, if I had four kids to manage I would have a whole different mindset.

I never found fear to be an effective motivator for my kids but I'm not dealing with 4 (only 2 for me). It just struck as the usual nonsense platitudes that people with no kids offer up but whatever you're using to keep 4 kids in line is God's work.

I don’t either brother. I’m a loving parent, but if they get out of line they don’t stay there very long.

I try to balance the kid's impulse to reach out, fuck around, test his surroundings--which I don't want to discourage--along with my need for some fucking law and order once in a while.

Yeah, it's definitely best to calmly punish them as quickly as possible instead of letting shit drag on until you blowup.

My kids are masters of fucking around in situations where it's very difficult to punish them, though.

They know it. They just have a bead on when they can push shit.

I made it really clear w my kid early on that just because we are in a store doesn't mean he wont get in trouble if he acts like an asshole. I made him stand outside, next to the wall of the store, while I would stand 20 feet away, just waiting 5 minutes while he would wail and sob. He used to fucking hate it.
