Funny you don't hear about it from her.
I bet she'll eventually claim she didn't do it.

No, I cashed out at about 25,900. It was the day after the first big 500-600-point drop. I also sold one fund a few days before that at the actual top, though. I’m usually not good at timing things, and I am not claiming to have all the answers, but everyone knows a big crash is coming - valuations are stretched and interest rates are rising, not to mention the economic fundamentals can’t improve much more from here. A crash is coming in the next year, or so, and it’s hard to see how gains of more than another 10% or so are realistic. I may very well be quite wrong, but I don’t have the stomach for the risk, so I peaced out. That’s all.

Julia is still up compared to the rest of the market based on her sell date. Record gains mean little when they immediately follow record losses, unless you are a market timing masterman.
So, mocking threads like this are a bit premature.

Well I think even Julia understands that being "out" of the stock market over the very long time will be a losing proposition.
As I recall her main reasoning for selling were: 1) she thought a crash was coming; and 2) she personally could not handle the volatility she was expecting moving forward.
She was right about #1, and #2 is a personal thing. Some people value capital preservation over the chance for 10% gains.

Julie- why do you think the market drop within next 12-15 months will be "substantial"?
Change in P/E ratios or change in earnings? What would justify a 30% drop besides some external cause? Are you predicting an external event?

“market euphoria and panics are difgicult to predict or control”
*tries to predict market panic by cashing out*
*obnoxiously celebrates the dip by posting on xo. Also implies that it’s trump’s fault*
*is wrong about impending crash*

Hence why I asked about P/E ratios.
So you think P/E ratios will take a dive?
Do you think earnings will remain stable/rise?
Your failure to directly address my question is quite revealing.

people on here need to stop lying about going all in, or cashing out completely, or whatever.
No you did not sell several hundred thousand in securities because the market dropped 500 points.

the lying doesn't bother me as much as people thinking they know what's going on.
the corporate tax rate cut, cash repatriation, and change in territorial taxes is the greatest wealth transfer in American history from the gov't to the corporations.
if anything the market is undervalued. the fact that everyone is sitting on the sidelines and concerned about the market is actually positive.
