There is only so much they can do with trad. 401k balances since they already have to be taxed. It's another reason to avoid Roth 401K, where you risk getting double taxed.

Well if you are biglaw or something similar, there will likely be times in the future when you have much less annual income and can move over money from a trad. 401K to a roth 401K basically tax free.
