client visited a Marriott as a chaperone for her kid's school trip. air conditioning wasn't working and after several hours, a hotel maintenance worker came to room to work on the unit. tons of dust and smoke were emitted from the ac unit after he got it working and my client was choking, wheezing and vomiting. paramedics came to treat her with oxygen but she did not go to the hospital.

1 month later, asthmatic symptoms continue, interfering with her life and ability to be an active mother. Unfortunately shes into homeopathic medicine and won't go to a real doctor.

should i just send a demand letter? what do you (and others) think its worth?

You'll need a real doctor to connect her current problems with the incident. Without it, the case sucks. I probably wouldn't take this tbh. They may throw a few grand at it for nuisance but I don't really see much here without it getting worked up better.

did she save particles from the a/c vent via video with a notary public present, using latex gloves and titanium tongs to place the evidence in a vacuum sealed color-code locked clear bag?

Just settled it for $15K. Offer was $1,000 pre suit.

I took this case my first month starting out when I couldn't turn stuff down.

probably 150 hours so my hourly rate was terrible on this one but I was clueless about litigation when i started in january after doing biglaw so I kinda used this one (and a couple of my other first few filings) to develop forms for discovery, etc so that its faster in the future.

practice is going well brother. mix of crim, some random litigation shit, and then contingency PI. will make over $100K first year, could be much bigger if a couple of my outstanding cases wrap up for good value.
